How to get from Santorini Airport to Kamari

By the Mon Signor team, Kamari ·

Quick answer

Kamari is one of the closest resorts to Santorini Airport (JTR), about 5–6 km away, or 10–15 minutes by car. A taxi or pre-booked transfer is the quickest option. There is no direct public bus, so by bus you change in Fira, which takes 30–45 minutes or more.

How far is Kamari from Santorini Airport?

About 5–6 km. The road runs along the flat east side of the island with no cliff-top driving, so the trip usually takes 10–15 minutes. Being this close to the airport is one of the big advantages of staying in Kamari: you can be in the sea within an hour of landing.

Option 1: hotel transfer (easiest)

Mon Signor offers transfers to and from the airport, the port and the station. Send us your flight number when you book, and a driver will be waiting at arrivals. It is the most relaxed option, especially if you land late or the taxi queue is long. Contact us on WhatsApp, Viber, phone or email to arrange it.

Option 2: taxi

Taxis wait outside arrivals. Santorini has a limited number of taxis, so in high season (July and August) and when several flights land together you may have to wait. Fares change from year to year, so confirm the price with the driver before you set off.

Option 3: public bus (cheapest)

There is no direct bus from the airport to Kamari. You take the bus to Fira, the main bus station, then change to the Kamari line. Each leg costs a few euros, and the whole trip usually takes 30–45 minutes or longer, depending on connections. Carry some cash, because not every bus takes cards. Timetables are reduced outside the summer season.

Option 4: rental car or moto

Several rental companies operate at or near the airport. A car makes sense if you plan to explore the whole island. Parking in Kamari is much easier than in Fira or Oia. Mon Signor offers valet parking, and reception can also arrange car or moto rental for a single day of your stay.

Arriving by ferry instead?

Ferries arrive at Athinios port, on the west side of the island below the caldera. The drive to Kamari is longer than from the airport and climbs a steep, winding road, and traffic builds when large ferries arrive. A pre-booked transfer is the least stressful option from the port.
